Schiller Cleanroom Intralogistics Introduces New Spacesaver
The development and construction of intralogistics solutions for cleanrooms is a challenging task, especially when it comes to efficient space utilization. SCI (Schiller Cleanroom Intralogistics), a part of the SCIO Group, has collaborated with leading companies in the semiconductor industry to develop a highly compact storage robot for wafer production.
Innovative structural design, specialized interior shelf layout, and precise handler positioning ensure the efficient utilization of available space and room height. Thanks to a sophisticated and remarkably high-performance gripping system, it's also possible to store containers in a double-deep manner, providing additional space savings. This enables the storage and retrieval of more than 800 wafer boxes within an area of less than 14 square metres. Subsequently, SCI conveyor systems ensure the smooth transport of wafers to the respective production areas within the cleanroom.
For comparison, in a conventional setup, a similar quantity of wafers would require over 38% more space. As space in the highly controlled cleanrooms of the semiconductor industry is a valuable commodity due to the stringent requirements, SCI has been collaborating with renowned clients in the semiconductor industry since its founding in 2009 to develop solutions that enhance the productive use of space within cleanrooms.
Furthermore, automated storage systems offer a multitude of advantages for semiconductor manufacturing, allowing for the optimization of storage processes, including precise inventory data availability, rapid access times, gentle and low-particle handling, and the maintenance of a constant laminar flow to ensure consistent air quality.
