Highly efficient capsule production on a small scale: With an output of 43,500 capsules/hour, the new Modu-C CS is ideal for the medium output range. Several additional functions ensure highest quality. The system is also available as a containment variant, which offers protection concepts for all capsule applications, including powders of OEL < 1µg/OEB 5.

Klaus Käfer, Sales Director in Capsule Technologies, explains “the concept behind the machine was 'Every capsule counts'. On the one hand, patients are needing impeccable quality of their medicines. But it also applies to pharmaceutical development departments – they increasingly process demanding, expensive powders and other filling media. Product-saving, highly efficient processes are particularly important here.”

The product determines the process

These sophisticated powders include pure active ingredients, freeze-dried powders or engineered particles. Many of these materials have complex rheological properties that make for challenging filling operations.

Klaus Käfer: "In order to keep the promise 'Every capsule counts', we adapt dosing and infeed systems depending on the product properties - and thus so optimise results, even with tiny filling quantities. Of course, all common powder mixtures and pellets can also be processed safely with our CS.” The trolley system enables quick change of the dosing systems for manufactured different products on one system.

Additional functions for the highest quality

Numerous special functions contribute to safe working and precise results. This includes, for example, an integrated capsule deduster that removes even the smallest powder residue from the capsule shell within the compact machine footprint.

Another special feature is the integrated 100% weighing. Klaus Käfer: “The fact that we can check the weight of each capsule in the closed containment is a real revolution in the field of capsule filling machines. Alternatively, IPC weighing of a predefined capsule quantity can be implemented.”
