Next generation HEPA filters: The Absolute product line
The first HEPA filter was designed in the 1940s for the nuclear power industry. Because of its high efficiency, the filter was referred to as an “Absolute” filter. Today Camfil is well known for supplying decades of Absolute filters. The iconic product line has been used in sensitive processes and high-end applications such as biosafety, containment, life science and food and beverage.
With the next generation of the Absolute V series, Camfil answers the increasing demands of clean process industries. When installed in Air Handling Units or in-line HEPA housings, these high airflow HEPA filters provide the best protection with minimal total cost of ownership (TCO). Likewise, containment applications can benefit from the multiple advantages of the new Absolute V series when installed in safety housings for hazardous exhaust air.
Some processes are more sensitive than others
In clean process industries such as food and beverage or life science, there are tough demands for clean air. Choosing the right filters for sensitive processes creates a particular challenge. The filters must not only protect the products from undesirable particles, but the filter itself must be manufactured from materials that will not contaminate the sensitive processes. Therefore, the new Absolute V range provides filters that are part of Camfil's Prosafe line which addresses all of these concerns. In addition, Camfil put a special focus on making the customers lives easier in regard to weight, robustness and energy consumption.
Lighter, Stronger, Greener
Lighter – Addressing the challenges of service technicians to mount this filter type which can often weigh over 20 kilograms. With the new steel version (11kg) and plastic version (below 10kg), Camfil significantly reduced the weight of the Absolute V filters. This, in combination with the innovative rounded corners, helps to mitigate the risk of bag tear during the safe change procedure bag-in bag-out (BIBO).
Stronger - Even though lighter, the unique design and state-of-the-art technologies enabled Camfil to increase the robustness of the filters required for a safe handling and secured clamping procedure.
Greener – The improved design reduces the initial pressure drop to only 240Pa at 4000 m³/h which has never been achieved for this kind of high capacity HEPA filters before. This leads to energy savings of 23 percent or up to 1400 kWh per year compared to the current market average of equivalent high airflow HEPA filters.
Absolute V is offered in three versions: Absolute VE with a galvanized steel frame and the Absolute VG ProSafe and Absolute VG-ES ProSafe with ABS plastic frames. While the steel version includes the latest metal forming technologies and the plastic versions feature injection molded frame parts, all filters are based on the same intelligent design. This allows Camfil to increase the robustness, convenience and safety while reducing weight and energy consumption significantly for all models. Finally, the ultimate energy saver, Absolute VG-ES ProSafe includes Camfil’s latest membrane media to achieve the lowest pressure drop providing up to 39 percent or 2400 kWh per year of energy savings when compared to current market average, while fully complying with Camfil’s ProSafe certification for the most sensitive processes.
The Absolute V series is the best choice for energy heroes. By choosing the most energy efficient filters on the market, customers can expect a reduced energy consumption and energy bill. As these filters are installed with a much lower initial pressure drop, there is a good chance the need for filter change will be much later, resulting in fewer changes, less downtime, labor and waste.
