M+W Zander hands new power supply center over for AMD Chipfabrik Fab 36 at operators

The plant is operated by the ' second power supply centers Dresden Wilschdorf GmbH & CO kg ', a Joint venture of the supplier for industrial gases air liquid one, Duesseldorf, and the local power supplier DREWAG. M+W Zander had the total responsibility for the project with a quantity of orders of approximately 66 million euro as a general purchaser. The new power supply center EVC 2 supplies the AMD Fab 36 via a natural gas powered blockheizkraftwerk with electric current, warm and chilled water. The capacity would be sufficient, around a city with approximately 150.to supply 000 inhabitants completely with energy. The special requirements during chip production require a continuous supply of the production plants with electricity. This cannot be ensured by the public net in the necessary quality. The EVC 2 supplies the AMD Fab 36 troublefree with energy and makes so an improvement possible of the produktionsablaeufe. By use of the waste heat from the generation of current for the cold and warm water preparation the plant works at the same time pollution free and highly effectively. The earthwork for the energy center bordering on the chip factory had - after approximately four months planning time - in March 2004 begun, already one month later began the above ground construction. In November 2004 the first gas producer could take up the probebetrieb. Since first April 2005 the EVC 2 supplies the entire energy for the AMD Fab 36.Thus M+W Zander succeeded in fulfilling the extremely close time schedule. M+W Zander had already built the AMD Fab 30 in the nineties for AMD in Dresden and associated energy supplying center 1. Der Ausbau of the AMD location with the AMD Fab 36 and the associated EVC 2 took place likewise with M+W Zander as a general purchaser.
