Joining forces: castus® acquires the Swiss stopper processing specialist Hanag

castus®, one of the world's leading manufacturers of transfer systems, is joining forces with the stopper processing specialist Hanag, based in Basel. Henceforth, castus® sterile systems GmbH & Co. KG will bundle the production of stopper handling systems within the castus® group. Hanag becomes part of the group on March 31, 2021, with the transfer of all employees and Hanag customers.

With more than 60 years of experience, Hanag Steriltechnik AG is one of the most important Swiss manufacturers in plant and system construction. The focus is on sterile applications, with an established customer base for stopper and cap treatment systems. A comprehensive global distribution agreement is already in place between the two companies. "We are delighted about this opportunity to further consolidate the existing cooperation with our partner Hanag and to make greater use of synergy effects," explains Jürgen Hoffmann, Managing Director of castus®. "The production facility in Switzerland will remain and is an ideal location with its proximity to the pharmaceutical companies based there. Hanag has extensive machinery, but above all a team with enormous experience. This is a perfect fit for our group of companies and the goal of covering the entire process chain."

Entrepreneurial achievement honored

"Mr. Netzhammer has managed to develop Hanag Steriltechnik AG into an important Swiss sterile technology company, even in times of upheaval," says Jürgen Hoffmann, paying tribute to the impressive entrepreneurial achievements of founder Eric Netzhammer. "He has permanently driven the further development of the company and Hanag products. With over 60 years of experience, the company is now a global player in sterile technology." Eric Netzhammer will continue to support castus® in an advisory capacity.

Strengthening the position as a system provider

As of March 31, the site will become part of the castus® Group, and all Hanag employees will be transferred. From now on, Hanag's customers will also be supported by castus®, including the service and warranty area. The primary objective of the acquisition is to provide customers with innovative solutions from the entire process chain - with access to new market areas and further portfolio elements. In addition, the Ochsenhausen-based company is laying the foundation for the expansion of production capacities. In the future, important steps in plant engineering will also be carried out in Ochsenhausen: "This gives us more comprehensive technological know-how and enables us to offer our customers a clear added value," says Managing Director Jürgen Hoffmann.
