M+W Zander builds particle cradle cabinet for the development of soot particle filters/all-electronic temperature and dampness regulation
Stuttgart, 7 April 2005. M+W Zander developed a special particle
cradle cabinet (Particle Measurement Cabinet/PMC) for the automobile
industry together with partners. It prevents disturbing influences on
the soot particle measurements of diesel engines, which are caused by
mechanical oscillations, temperature and humidity fluctuations. The
cradle cabinet was already sold at several car manufacturers as well
as suppliers. For the development and qualification of soot particle
filters for diesel engines extensive series of measurements are
necessary. Evaluating these measurements is made more difficult by
mechanical oscillations as well as fluctuations of the temperature and
the air humidity. The particle cradle cabinet developed by M+W Zander
Products GmbH makes the site conditions available needed for the
gravimetric measurements. That means: It provides for the oscillation uncoupling of the cradle
system, for the temperature and dampness regulation and for keeping
der Luftreinheitsklasse 5 (3,520 particles per cubic meter of air,
with a particle size 0.5 millionth meter). Thus already today the
conditions for standardized evaluations are manufactured, how they
prescribe the legal defaults of the American environmental protection
agency EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) starting from 2007
global. The particle cradle cabinet works in the circulating air
principle. In the inside prevails a vertical, with low turbulences
displacement current, which fulfills the requirements of the category
of purity 5 in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14644-1. For regulating the
Luftfreuchtigkeit and for keeping the positive pressure in the work
area outside air is supplied and conditioned accordingly. The cradle
place with granite block is decoupled of the housing, in order to
avoid vibration transmissions. In the cradle cabinet a humidifier with a constantly adjustable
humidification achievement is integrated. For the air humidification
the system needs only untemperiertes city water in quality of drinking
water. An automatic draining reduces a calcifying of humidifier
components. Thus their life span increases, while maintenance costs
are reduced. The two-stage humidifier concept ensures a continuous
humidification also during the draining cycles. The cooling and/or
dehumidifying of air effected via two integrated heat exchangers. A
