of the numeric simulation. Description of the project Alcon Belgium -
FLOVENT of minimizes CROSS Contamination Flomerics ' Flovent air flow
modeling software has once again been instrument valley in solving A
cleanroom CROSSES contamination issue - this time for pharmaceutical
company Alcon Belgium. Concerned about possible CROSS contamination
between different cleanliness classes within A cleanroom garment
changing AREA, Alcon's own, in-house engineering team employed Flovent
ton carry out A Design study simulating air movement, heat transfer
and distribution OF contaminants throughout the rooms.The layout OF the AREA affected comprised on unclassified AREA, where
technicians changed from their laboratory clothes into their cleanroom
garments. Then, depending on what they were working on, thesis
technicians passed through AREAS C or D - AREA C off ring the highest
level OF cleanliness and D the lowest. The original ventilation system
Design utilized 12 standard ceiling mounted HEPA of filter, supplying

basis for A Design study, simulating A of series OF "what if"
scenarios and comparing their performance with the cousin LINE
computer model.To Through this parametric Design study, aimed RK eat-sing the
sensitivity tons of CHANGES OF the ventilation scheme, A finally,
improved Design evolved which performed very differently ton the
originals concept. Into the roofridge instance, A floor tons ceiling

and the Class C AREA, providing A physical barrier ton air flow

performing A of series OF actual smoke tests prior tons finally
commissioning OF the premises. Using Flovent, Alcon Engineers were
able ton model and test unconventional Design concepts, ton lake how
they met cleanroom regulatory requirement and ton make cost effective
Design CHANGE extremely quickly. There is little doubt that without
this simulation work, the installation would have gone ahead with the
original Design and potentially serious problem when it came tons
