M+W Zander modernizes power station in Romania

Conversion of coal to more pollution free natural gas Stuttgart/Bacau (Romania), 11 July 2006 * the technology company M+W Zander received the order for the modernization of a power station in the Romanian city Bacau. The order value amounts to approximately 9.3 million euro. M+W Zander is responsible as general contractors for planning, realization and ready for occupancy delivery to at the latest at the end of of June 2007. In addition also the connection counts to the net infrastructure. The new power station with force heat coupling will ensure the electrical basic supply of the 240.000-Einwohner-Stadt. It is one of the first power stations of Romania, that of coal to the more pollution free natural gas than primary energy is at the same time changed over. * After the completion the power station will have an installed output of 14.25 megawatts of electrical and 25 megawatts thermal energy (long-distance heating).The replacement from coal by gas and the use of modern force heat coupling technology is not more pollution free but - by high transport costs for the coal - at the same time also more economical only. Contracting parties are the CET Bacau on Romanian as well as the M+W Zander FE GmbH, Stuttgart, on German side. The three key components gas turbine and compressor as well as waste heat boiler are supplied by third side. Since 1970 M+W Zander is world-wide in the power plant technology active. Among the customers both coal -, water -, -, core and biomass power station operators rank gas. The power spectrum reaches from the planning of a complete plant over the support of the permission process, the project co-ordination and realization including quality assurance up to the documentation and customer training.Beyond that, builds and operates M+W Zander plans special energy centers for enterprises, which must be supplied troublefree and efficiently with energy. Natural gas powered blockheizkraftwerke provide thereby for an economic and environmentalcareful energy use as well as an no-break power supply.
