The High Dilution System HDS 561 of the Topas GmbH, Dresden enables dilutions by factors 1,500-100,000 without cascading. This unit is extremely compact and robust and requires no compressed air supply. A part of the extensive product range of Topas is in addition to the particle measurement technology and complete filter test stands also aerosol generation and dilution systems. For many years, the cascadable dilution systems of series DIL are successfully established.

This series has now been expanded to include the single-stage High Dilution System HDS 561, which underscores its position by several innovative points.
Typical for Topas dilution systems is that no compressed air is needed for operation of the device.
The flow rate is factory-set to the customer's requirements and can be adjusted over a very wide range (28...100 l / min). Due to the high achievable dilutions of 1:1,500 to 1:100,000 a cascading of dilution systems is unnecessary and the summation of the individual pressure losses is omitted.
The HDS 561 can be used with nearly all commercially available aerosol instruments particle counters. It is possible to adjust and check the dilution ratio remotely controlled, which expands the capabilities of the device. The used HEPA filter system guarantees a long service life and operational readiness.
A typical application is shown for particle counters and aerosol spectrometers: the coincidence-free measurement range with respect to number concentration and particle size distribution can be significantly expanded with a defined dilution.
The measurement of high aerosol concentrations is necessary, for example for testing of clean rooms and work benches according to VDI 2083, which require measurements of the raw gas concentrations.

Other application fields are:
• defined source strength setting with aerosol generators
• separation efficiency measurements of filters and filter media
• acceptance testing of laminar flow boxes and clean rooms
• quality control

All Topas Dilution Systems meet the standards VDI 2083 and VDI 3491 established criteria. The aerosols are defined diluted without changing the particle size distribution.
